LACEY JEAN

Q
I would like to get tattooed, what's the best approach?
A Research different artists and look for an art style that suits your taste and represents your idea. If you like my style of art that is represented in my portfolio and on social media, contact me :)
Q Where are you located?
A I am based in Squamish, BC. There are several studios that I work from dependant on the day throughout the sea to sky corridor as well as the lower mainland. You can also find me doing fairly regular guest spots at a couple different tattoo studios in BC and Alberta. I do a fair bit of work by appointment only, but I also enjoy doing walk-in's when there is time available in my schedule to do so. Check out my Instagram page for current info on walk-in info, last minute availabilities and guest spot announcements.
Q Do you require an age limit to get tattooed?
A Yes, you must be 18 years or older with valid government ID to get tattooed. I do make exceptions for the odd individual that is 17 with parental consent. That being said, this on a case by case basis and your parent/guardian will need to be there for both the consultation and appointment, and will also need valid ID to prove that they are indeed your parent/guardian .
Q What do you charge/what is your hourly rate?
A My base hourly rate is $220/hr (all taxes are included). I also offer day rate for people who wish to sit longer on bigger projects ($1000 for 5 hours). For individuals who wish to be more involved in the design process (such as multiple art checks/design collaboration meetings/etc) I offer these services at an additional cost if this is the way which you wish to approach your tattoo. Options and costs associated with these additional services can be discussed at our consultation.
Q What payment methods do you except?
A Cash is preferred. I also accept etransfer, debit or credit card, I just charge for the additional fees that come with using those forms of payment.
Q Do consultations cost money? Do you require a deposit?
A Consultations are free. In order to book a tattoo appointment I will require a deposit. Deposits range from $100 to $400, dependant on the size and complexity of a design and how much time you book out in a day. ALL DEPOSITS ARE NON REFUNDABLE. This amount will be deducted from the total cost of your tattoo, or on the final sitting for a multi sitting project. You have one year from the date that your deposit is put in place to use it (if more time is needed, I will grant that on a case by case basis dependant on the project and the client). If you choose not to get tattooed, your deposit pays for the time spent working with you, research and drawing for you. If you “no show” for a scheduled appointment, arrive late (you get a 15min grace period) without notice or reschedule more than twice, you forfeit your deposit. Also, 48 HRS NOTICE is required as the bare minimum to reschedule or your deposit will go towards the missed appointment. The more time you can give me once you know you need to move our tattoo date, the better. Once the email/text reminder goes out, my hands are tied. I understand that life happens at times. That being said, my livelihood and income depends on reliable and committed clients. I ask all my clients to do their best to stay to the scheduled date(s) agreed upon in our consultation. Please note that if your deposit has gone towards to one of the previously mentioned examples you will be required to provide a new deposit to re-book any future tattoo appointments with me.
Q When will my artwork be ready for me to check out?
A I will have your finalized artwork completed and ready for you to see the day of your appointment. If you wish to be more involved in the design process past our initial consultation (such as art checks in) I have different package options available based off the level you wish to be involved at additional costs.
Q I'm unsure about the drawing that was created for me, will you change it?
A Every artist approaches this question differently and every circumstance is unique. I love collaborating with my clients to come up with a unique piece of art that's just for them. I do my best to meet the needs of and please my clients, but sometimes it's just not meant to be. This is the beauty and challenge of creating a custom tattoo and commissioning an artist to design out your thoughts. If you decide the artwork is not for you and you ask me to redraw your artwork, majority of the time I'm on board. There will just be an additional cost associated with your request to compensate my extra time towards your project..
Q How should I prepare for my first tattoo appointment?
A Get a good nights sleep, wake up without a hangover, eat a complete and healthy meal and be sure to bring some snack food. Wear comfortable clothing that is suited to the area that you are getting tattooed. Bring a clean towel or blanket to move around the studio if you're required to be partially/fully nude. Prepare the skin to be tattooed by exfoliating and shaving the area and try to avoid having a deep sun tan or sun burn. Bringing music or a movie with headphones, or a book can be helpful, along with keeping the remainder of your day open.
Q I'm concerned about the pain and my tolerance for the tattoo. Can I use a numbing cream?
A Most of the time, a tattoo is just uncomfortable, and I find most individuals are able to tough it out. There are certain spots on the body (stomach, ribcage, lower back, inside of joints, neck) that are definitely a bit harder to deal with. That being said, not all numbing creams are created equally, and some can have drastic and negative effects on your tattoo. If you do wish to use numbing cream or spray, I can usually provide a good quality one that won't impact your tattoo for an additional charge and the tube of cream or bottle of spray is yours to keep.
Q How do I reschedule an appointment?
A Just send me an email. Please remember, I ask for a minimum 48 hours of notice if you need to reschedule an appointment. Generally you will need to wait until your next scheduled appointment or my next available opening to get tattooed.
Q How long is your wait list?
A My wait list is around 2-3 months for a new client to get tattooed. Sometimes I am able to accommodate smaller projects (portraits, script, etc) within a shorter timeline if there is availability in my schedule. Consultations can often be set up within a couple weeks and easily within the month.
Q I think I need a touchup…how do I book in?
A Touch ups are normal and may be needed depending on the tattoo. Please contact me directly through my email to book a time. Please wait approximately one month from the original or final tattoo date to fully allow the tattoo to heal and settle in. Touch ups are at no cost hourly for the first 4 months. There is a set up fee to cover base cost of supplies needed. It ranges from $20 to $50 dependant on amount of supplies needed. Regular hourly rate applies after the four month time period has lapsed.
Q I want to purchase a gift certificate. Where can I get them?
A Please just contact me. You can get a gift certificate in whatever amount you wish. The value is good for one year from the purchase date. I'm hoping to have an online store up and running soon. Eventually they will be available on there as well.
Q I'm pregnant and or breastfeeding, can I get tattooed?
A I will not tattoo you if you are pregnant of breastfeeding. Tattooing creates an environment that could expose your fetus/new born to stress, potential pathogens or infections that could have drastic consequences.
Q Why haven't you answered my text/call/dm/message/email yet?
A I find the best way to communicate about tattoo work is either in person or email. Text, calls, DM or messenger isn't ideal for a variety of reasons. I will always respond but if you wish to talk, but I will also guide you towards email or in person to communicate about tattoo work. Sometimes it takes me a while to return emails, it really depends on my current work load. I do my best to reply to all emails, whether it's a referral, an answer to a question or to set up a consultation. I'm a one person show, so sometimes it takes me a bit to respond. If it's been awhile, please send me another one. My email is tattoosbylaceyjean@gmail.com or refer to my CONTACT page
Q I have some questions about my new healing tattoo, what should I do?
A Refer to my AFTERCARE page, and if you have any other concerns, please contact me right away. There is no such thing as a dumb question.
Q This page didn't answer my question…. What now?
A Reach out, I am happy to help if I can.
